Planning Tools

Tools to help you think through the numbers before the conversations start.

Estimators, comparison frameworks, and checklists. Nothing here replaces a proper survey or formal quote, but these tools help you arrive at those conversations better prepared.

Every renovation involves numbers you do not know yet. How much will a heat pump cost to install in a house this size? Is it worth insulating the walls before replacing the boiler, or after? What difference does the building age actually make to the scope of work? These tools give rough answers to those kinds of questions.

Cost Range Estimator

Enter your home's basic details and the type of upgrade you are considering. The tool returns an indicative cost range in Czech crowns based on typical project parameters. These figures are for orientation only.

Technology Comparison

A side-by-side look at the three main upgrade types across key dimensions. Use this to understand the trade-offs rather than to find a single right answer.

Contractor Question Checklist

Select the technology you are being quoted on to see a list of questions worth raising before you sign anything. You can print or save this list.

  • What heat loss calculation method did you use to size this system?
  • Is this an air-source or ground-source heat pump, and why does that suit this property?
  • What modifications will be needed to the existing distribution system (radiators, underfloor heating)?
  • What is the quoted Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) for this system in this climate zone?
  • Who handles the planning permission application if one is required?
  • What does the warranty cover, and who carries out the annual service?
  • What is the expected running cost difference compared to my current system, and what assumptions underlie that figure?
  • What U-value will the finished wall, roof, or floor achieve, and how does that compare to current building regulations?
  • What insulation material are you proposing, and why is it suited to this construction type?
  • How will ventilation be managed once the building is more airtight?
  • Is there a risk of interstitial condensation with this approach, and how is it mitigated?
  • What happens at the junctions — window reveals, roof eaves, floor edges — and how are thermal bridges addressed?
  • Will internal room dimensions change, and by how much?
  • Is this thermostat compatible with my current heating system's control protocol?
  • Does it require a neutral wire, and does my existing wiring have one?
  • What happens to the heating schedule if the internet connection goes down?
  • Does the manufacturer commit to software support for a defined period?
  • Can it control multiple zones independently?
